Last week students were introduced to the short story called The Night Traveler. That was just part 1 of the continuing story of a Soul Demon. The Night Traveler (Part 2)
My days are spent usually alone in a hotel room. I don't own a permanent home since I love to travel. I've always traveled as far back as I can remember. While still alive I remember that I would spend hours on flights to exotic places in attempts to capture the perfect picture. I was a professional photographer in life. The sun would provide me with the natural lighting I needed to get the stunning photos that you could see in magazines, on billboards or even in an art gallery that would display my work. Now, it has been a struggle for me. I relished living in the sun. I find myself most days now just sitting in front of a closed window with dark shades drawn tightly closed to block any sneaky rays of light out. I cannot dream but I am always finding myself closing my eyes and envisioning what it looks like on the other side of that shade. I order coffee table books online that feature sun soaked beaches and summits in the mountains. I refuse to give up that part of who I was.
I don't need sleep to gain energy or to reset my brain at night. I have no super powers. I did not gain any massive strength or any other ability in my rebirth. The only special unique thing I have for me is the ability to see auras. Funny how the auras I see are nothing like what you read about in those spiritual articles in the back of magazines. The glows I see are bright, colorful, and the depth of the shades change depending on how prominent the personality of the individual is.
I take in the glow by absorbing the energy. It's the same feeling I used to get when I would stand in a sun filled spot in the middle of a forest with the sun's rays covering my face and giving me worth. A feeling that goes through your skin and into your bones. There are hundreds of pictures attempting to capture that same emotion and feeling, where you will see either a young stunning girl or a young child looking up to the sky and their face seems to glow from the sun's warmth while the rest of the photo seems to lack the same energy and peacefulness.
I can control how much of the energy I take in from people. I will walk up next to someone and let myself absorb a small piece of who they are. I can see the change in the shading of their glow. I need to be careful not to take too much from one person since that is how you steal their soul. Not stealing souls and creating living zombies from nearly everyone I talk to is a skill that took me years to master. I am a lot older than I look. I do age. My aging is more like after every 25 years I age one year. I was young already when I began my existence as a Soul Demon. Young meaning I was only 22 years old. When people see me now I still look mostly 22 but I've been on this planet for almost 75 years now.
